Lighting technique for close-ups. [II]

MP-E 65mm f/2,8, 1/125s at f/11 - MR-14EX [1:8]
Obtain sculptural lighting effects.

Besides conventional, compensation flat lighting, the Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX can also create sculptural effects when you set a flash ratio for the left and right flash tubes. Since the light is diffused, the shadows are soft and natural-looking. You can select the flash ratio from 1:8 to 8:1 in 1/2-stop increments. In this way, you can control the amount of shadow.
Even when the subject is farther away or when the reflectance differs, you can obtain balanced lighting by controlling the flash ratio.

Close-up with multiple Speedlites wireless autoflash system lets you set up a "desktop studio" with unlimited potential.

Setting up a "desktop studio" is a snap with the Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX and one or more Speedlite 550EXs. Flash pictures often result in a dark background. By using a Speedlite550EX to illuminate
the background, the flash picture's lighting will look more natural. You can also control the flash ratio between the Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX and Speedlite 550EX to create front light or backlight effects as desired, in the field or indoors, regardless of weather, time or location. The modeling flash enables you to check the lighting effects before you take the picture. Even beginners can take flash pictures like a pro.
