| Canon EOS 1Ds : Features ! [09/15/2002] |
Informations reveal me that :
- The sensor is not based on a double 6 MP sensor, but on a single 11,1 effective MP sensor
- Price range is expected between 6.500 to 8.500 US$
- Frame rate about 3,5 fps for the EOS 1Ds
- Same AF and exposure system than the 1V/1D body.
For the moment it's to early to say that is real information ! We must wait for the Canon announcement !

| Canon EOS D60 [02/07/2002] |
| In Belgium it's now possible to pre-order the D60 (replacement of the D30), for the approximately price of the D30. We just told me that the only one thing known is the sensor, it's a 5 MP sensor. Availability announced : March - April 2002. |
| Canon PMA 2002 ! [02/03/2002] |
| We just confirm me the fact that Canon will soon release a new pro Digital SLR ! The D60 is not a rumour... Two new Digital SLR ! With these new releases Canon complete his digital SLR range ! Canon is filling the gap ! |
| Canon PMA 2002 ! [02/01/2002] |
Things indicate that Canon will present various new gear at the PMA 2002 this month ! We talk about of a new EOS-1DS adapted for Studio work with a higher resolution of 6 MP slower (in fps) than the EOS-1D. That will perhaps make two new Digital SLR !
The rumors concerning the EOS D60 could be confirmed... No more precision... The lenses shown by Delta International in their catalogue perhaps will be shown at this PMA ! No price indication and no more precision for the moment. |
| Canon, New lenses ? [01/25/2002] |
In the website of Delta International it's possible to see listed, for pre-order :
Canon EF 200-400mm f/4 DO IS USM
Canon EF 500mm f/2,8 DO IS USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/2,8 L USM
The pre-order for the Canon DO lenses seems to be a little too fast... About the 24-105. Canon will certainly replace soon his mythical 28-70 2,8L, but is official range is not known. We can just hope !
The announcement of these lenses can be a media-staged event of Delta International to spot all attentions on their website ! Perhaps the products will be removed of their catalogue...
Wait & See. |
| Canon New Digital SLR ? [15/01/2002] |
| The previous information about the D60 are false. But the new Canon Digital SLR is not a rumour ! |
| Canon EOS D60 [01/11/2002] |
Here it is more "information" about the future Canon EOS D60 :
- 6 Mpixels and CMOS Sensor,
- Multiplicator Coefficient : x1.2,
- AF System inherited of the EOS-3,
- BP-511 Battery (same than the D30),
- ISO range : 100 - 1600,
- Rotating function to switch between portrait / landscape mode,
- Launch Price : 3500 - 4000 US$ / 3900 - 5000 euros
Of course these "informations" are not confirmed, we must wait for the official announcement |
| Canon EOS D60 [03/01/2002] |
Since some days the "rumour" of the Canon EOS D60 is spreaded. It will be perhaps the EOS D30 replacement.
This new Digital SLR is based on the Elan 7E with is CMOS sensor with 7 AF points. And the price is estimated for about 3500 US$. People say that this is not a rumour... ! News at the PMA 2002, in february 2002 at Orlando! |
| Canon EF 16-35mm f/2,8L USM [03/01/2002] |

Canon Professional Service Germany announce in his "Profile" Issue n°18, 2 new DO lenses :
Canon EF 500mm f/2,8 DO IS USM

| Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM [12/15/2001] |
| Here it is Chasseur d'Images releasing in his issue 240 (January - February 2002) the 400/DO test. What can we say about a lens sold for approximately 9.000 € which is optically comparable with the EF 300/4L IS USM ??? No, no I can't see ! |
 |
To know all, just read the test ! If you do not need the 400/DO lightweight choose the wonderfull 300/2,8L IS USM + EF x1,4 II !
|
| Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM [11/17/2001] |
| To following the pre-review of the french magazine Chasseur d'Images in the issue n° 239 about the EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM, we must know that from the Photokina 2000, Can had spread various models of the lens with a different multi-coating for each one. To select the best multi-coating treatment for the final product. Making a test on such a pre-release lens is not reproducible with another pre-product. A new lens needs a very precise adjustment, especially with a new technology. |
 |
Therefore just a final product review will tell us the pros & cons of the lens
However hopefully the lens is worth the price...
|
| Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM [11/15/2001] |
In the issue n° 239 of december 2001 the french magazine Chasseur d'Images, gives a kind of pre-review of the Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM. This pre-review do not publish the usual test with MTF but gives the first impressions of their reviewers. The lens is announced as very convenient to use but... the optical performance seems to be inferior to the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4,5-5,6L IS USM !
The final test will give us the last word of this story. Remind the price... 8.990 € ! |
| Canon EF 16-35mm f/2,8L USM [11/02/2001] |
| The zoom will be probably only available to retail in january-february 2002, and not november 2001... |

I offer you the Canon's brochure called "Flashwork", which show you how the EX Flash System works. The brochure is composed also by another section, called Flashworks, which show how pro photographers use the flashes of the EX-Serie.

 EF 300mm f/2,8L USM |
 EF 500mm f/4L IS USM |
 EF 300mm f/4L IS USM |
 EF 300mm f/2,8L IS USM |
 EF 500mm f/4,5L USM |
After the 400/4 DO announcement and the publication of his MTF curves, it's perhaps too early to have a precise purchase idea. But it's still possible to make some quick comparisons. Of course the 400 DO is in a particular category, different from the heavy lenses of the L-Serie, but I think that inevitably people will make such comparisons.
If you take consideration about this curves it seems to appear that the 400/DO is a little bit less as good as the 300/2,8L USM, same for the IS version. Both 300/2,8L lenses are close, but the IS version is a little bit more better. These curves can't replace a complete test of a serious magazine. Therefore we must wait the publication of such a test. But it seems that, Canon wants to sold the 400/DO at gold price, the DO technology, to people that really need it (pro shooters). We must not forget that MTF curves published by Canon, come from a software calculation, and not a lens test. |

Approximately 4.000 US$. This estimated price show that the lens will be expansive, very expansive... Too much expansive ! |
| Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM : What a pity ! [09/12/2001] |
Somebody of Canon has confirmed me that the EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM price can be very high. This lens could be a prestige lens...
What a disappointment for those hoping, has indicated in the press release, a cheaper high quality than the L-Serie due to the DO technology... We must remain confident, nevertheless, that the price will be cheaper than the actual estimated price of 7600 Euros... |

These EF 70-200mm f/2,8L USM do not replace the "old" EF 70-200mm f/2,8L USM. The information that I have told that this EF 70-200mm f/2,8L IS USM is not bigger than the old EF 70-200mm f/2,8L USM, the only change are the switchs to activate the IS capability, same as the 100-400 IS.
