High-speed 1/16,000s shutter speed

1/16,000-second shutter speed and 1/500-second X-sync think of the possibilities.

Total performance is not simply continuous shooting at fps rates faster than a digital camera has ever been capable of before. The new large-area, four million pixel CCD imaging sensor electronically times shutter speeds, and makes possible speeds as fast as 1/16,000th of a second. EX-series EOS Speedlites can sync to an amazing 1/500th of a second. A bladed rotary-magnet shutter, similar to the ones used in EOS-1v and EOS-3, is used to protect the CCD and provide timing during longer exposures; this shutter is durability-tested to 150,000 exposures. To a professional, speed without reliability is not an option.
